Things I’m Loving

April 2, 2011

Lately I’ve had tons of ideas running through my head about things I want to feature on my blog.

I know that this is a “foodie blog”, but it’s also my little outlet to express myself, so I wanna expand a little and add more fun things to Steph’s Bite by Bite.

Hope you’re ok with that! ;)

I am a person of obsession. Once I find something that I really like, I kind of become obsessed with it and stick with it until I get really tired of it. So, I thought it would be fun to do some posts about things that I am totally loving, and share them with you.

1. Village Inn’s Caramel Pecan Silk Supreme Pie

This pie is insane. There’s a layer of caramel pecan (which is like pecan pie filling), then a layer of chocolate velvet French silk, then a cream cheese layer. Add on some whipped cream and chopped pecans and you’ve got yourself a party! Yes, this pie is very rich, but it is so good. Lucas and I can easily eat the whole thing on our own.

2. My plants turning green

Woohoo for Spring!! It’s incredible to me how one day everything is brown, the next day there are a few blossoms, and on day three…whabam…green everywhere! Makes me so excited. I’m tired of winter, and am so ready to see some color.

3. Ponderosa Valley Vineyards’ Chamisa Gold Wine

The Ponderosa Valley Vineyard is a local New Mexico Winey (gotta support the locals), which offers some amazing wines. Chamisa Gold is my favorite. It’s a sweet, crisp muscat wine. I’m a totally sweet wine person, I can’t do reds and I can’t do dry. I just don’t like ‘em. Chamisa Gold has the perfect sweet balance, and is perfect for these sunny afternoons that are slowly creeping in to my life.

4. Water For Elephants

One of my besties and I have our own little book club. We alternate back and forth with who picks the book to read. This time it was my pick, and after seeing the trailer for Water For Elephants I thought it’d be fun to read the book and then go see the movie. I haven’t finished the book yet, I’m about half way through and find it to be really entertaining. It’s easy to connect to the characters, and I feel like I’m getting whisked away in to the fun interesting life of The Circus. I find myself becoming really attached to Rosie the elephant. This book better not let Rosie get hurt!

5. O.P.I.’s Manicurist of Seville

O.P.I. is my absolute favorite nail polish brand. It’s long lasting, and there are so many fun colors. Right now I’m loving “Manicurist of Seville”, which is a darker maroon color. I know that it’s time to start transitioning out of dark colors, but if I don’t have a tan, bright colored nail polish really washes me out. So until these legs get some color to them, I’m sticking with this perfect shade!

As a side note, I want to start featuring Endurance Event Participants. Since I am half way through the training for my first full marathon, I am finding that I need some motivation to keep me going. I thought it would be fun for anyone who is training for a race or any other type of event (bike, swim, etc), or who has run a race, to offer their story in this new series! If you’d like to have your race recap featured please email me at stephsbitebybite@gmail.com

Did you know Water for Elephants is being made into a movie? I saw a preview for it the other night. I really enjoyed the book, so I’m anxious to see how the movie will be.

I hope the movie is as good, hate when the movie is nothing like the book!

I love that book SO much… I’ve read it three times or more! glad you are enjoying it, and good idea to read before the movie! I’m really hoping the movie does the book justice…

I love OPI too – I sometimes switch things up, but my very favorite for YEARS has been Malaga Wine, which is on my toes right now! :D

You should try to recreate that pie! Wow, it looks sinfully delicious.
I love the idea of asking others to share their race recaps with you. If you’re still doing this in August, I’d love to share my marathon experience!

If I could recreate that pie, I’d be eating all the time, so maybe it’s better that don’t. LOL!! I think you should recreate it, it might be a little better for us!

Yes!! Make sure to remind me when you finish your event! I’d LOVE to feature you!
