A Birthday Feast

June 22, 2011

Tomorrow is my birthday! I still can’t believe that I’m going to be 27.

Man, how the years fly by!

Each year bring a subtle set of changes that I hardly notice until it’s my birthday and I’m “taking a look back”. I suddenly realize that it’s been almost ten years since I graduated high school. I no longer am the same age as the college athletes I watch on TV.

My long ago dreams of being married are suddenly becoming a reality. The new age of kids have no idea what a floppy disc is. Did I just find a wrinkle?

My metabolism is not as fast as it once was. Instead of worrying about saving my allowance for the newest My Little Pet Shop toy, I now worry about saving my hard earned paycheck (riddled with tax deductions) for my future family life.

The one thing that never changes though is my obsession with food! From a young age I’ve always loved the scrumptious four letter word. And I think the best way to celebrate my birthday is with lots of yummy food.

So here’s my idea of the best way to eat my way through my birthday.

Breakfast:

Jessica’s Blackberry Cobbler Waffles

With some of the Nature Insider’s Almond Milk Latte.

Morning Snack:

Cassie’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Pops
Hey! It’s a fruit serving right!

Lunch:

Kita’s French Dip Sandwich

with a side of Clean Green Simple’s Sweet Potato Fries

followed by Joy’s Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake

Afternoon Snack:

Jana’s Cinnamon Graham Crackers

topped with Ashley’s Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Almond Butter

Dinner:

The Homesick Texan’s Pulled Pork

with a side of Apple and Poppyseed Coleslaw courtesy of Bitchin Camero

Apple & Poppy Seed Coleslaw

some Mac and Cheese Cupcakes from Mrs. Brooke featured on Babble

and we can’t forget the booze and gettin’ tipsy with some of I’ll Have What She’s Having Strawberry Rhubarb Mojitos.

For the Grand Finale:
(Since it’s my birthday I feel like overindulging and picking more than one dessert).

A huge slice of Snickurtle Pie from Kate

A whole Sweetapolita Inside Out Neapolitan Cake

My Caramel Bacon Brownies

A few of Lindsey’s Peanut Butter and Jelly Filled Doughnuts

And maybe a few scoops of Scoop Adventures’ Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream.

Who wants to join me?!

I’ll join, sounds like a delicious celebration!!! Happy Birthday!! It is crazy how fast the time goes. I’m almost right behind ya. ;) I’m turning 25 in July and it still hasn’t hit me yet like it’s a big deal, but my mom thinks it is huge!

What a fun post! And happy early birthday! Boy, do I remember what it was like to be 27. Enjoy! Just you wait until you turn 31…you start waking up in the morning with body parts that ache and you have no idea why (i.e. your toe). :-p
