Dirty Road Milkshake Shooters

May 21, 2012

I wish we could go back to the weekend.

Because I did something that was so bad.

Like so, so BAD that it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.

This kinda b-a-d is the good kind. Just like PHAT is the good kind of fat. And these milkshakes are bad to the phat bone.

Since we’re nearing summer time, the only thing my brain is thinking about is toasted marshmallows. Totally screams summer. And totally makes me feel less anxious about bathing suit season. When I look at my bathing suit I just pop another ‘mallow. Helps the anxiety, but not the actual bathing suit issue.

Oh well.

Adult milkshakes are way more important.

And yes. Adult milkshakes RE-quire sprinkles.

And since I wanted to pretend like I was controlling myself with these, I poured them in to little shooter glasses.

Gives the illusion of a portion control.

The hubby is lucky that I was willing to share one. Only one. He has beer. I have shooters.

These were my entertainment during the 15th bagillion week of the NBA playoffs. Why. Do. They. Last. So. Long.

Oh…and since these have ice cream in them they can also count as dessert.

Big WIN!! You better believe that I had one (???) before dinner and then MORE after dinner.

Sunday night sorrows.

I drowned (drownded??) them in icecreammarshmallowchocolatewhiskeysprinkle madness.

Is it too early to make more?

Dirty Road Milkshake Shooters
Makes 3 perfect shooters

1/3 cup chocolate chips

2-3 tablespoons heavy cream

2 toasted marshmallows

1/2 cup Ben and Jerry’s Rocky Road-ish Ice Cream

2 ounces Jack Daniels

3 tablespoons milk

3 ice cubes

1/4 cup multi-colored sprinkles

In a small microwave safe bowl heat the chocolate chips and heavy cream on high for one minute. Remove from microwave and stir. Continue to heat in 30 second intervals until chocolate is melted. Let chocolate sit for a minute or two just to thicken up.

In a mixer or magic bullet add the toasted marshmallows, ice cream, Jack, milk, and ice cubes. Blend until completely mixed. If mixture is too thick add a little more milk, if it’s too thin add another scoop of ice cream. Totally up to you, just based on the consistency that you like.

Take shooters and dip quickly in chocolate, just enough to line the rim, then dip in to the sprinkles. Pour a teaspoon of the chocolate in to the bottom of each shooter. Then divide the milkshake evenly between the glasses. Now you’re ready for a party in your mouth!

4 Ryan @ Spicy Richmond May 21, 2012 at 7:29 am

Yep I’m pretty sure I need these. Now…at 9:30 AM. Is that wrong?

5 Chung-Ah | Damn Delicious May 21, 2012 at 7:43 am

I definitely need this in my life, especially on a Monday morning!

6 Rachel Cooks May 21, 2012 at 8:31 am

So fun! Want, want, want.

7 Stephanie May 21, 2012 at 8:45 am

How adorable!

8 Anna @ hiddenponies May 21, 2012 at 8:57 am

This makes my adult and child sides both so happy. Wow.

9 Tina@flourtrader May 21, 2012 at 10:21 am

With these around, I could put up with the worst of the sports seasons-boring golf! I am sure just having one of these really hits the spot, but not sure if one would be enough. Delicious indulgence, Steph!

10 Lacy @ NYCityEats May 21, 2012 at 10:39 am

I am not even a major JD fan (been years since I’ve drank it) but I could totally get behind one (or six) of these. They look great!

14 Amy's Cooking Adventures May 21, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Oh my gosh! If there was any trace of ice cream in this house right now, I would be swimming in these (heading to the store asap!)

15 Ali B May 21, 2012 at 8:48 pm

These look delicious, the toasted marshmallow is such a great idea. But doesn’t it get caught up in the blender blades?

And I totally agree about the NBA finals thing. That argument can also be applied to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Seriously, it never ends.

16 Eileen May 21, 2012 at 8:49 pm

Half of my brain says “crazy talk!” but the other half says “MINE! GET AWAY.” Super amazing.

17 Baking Serendipity May 21, 2012 at 10:11 pm

You are out of control! I love these! I’m finishing up the school year on Thursday (!!) and now know the perfect way to celebrate 🙂

18 Baker Street May 22, 2012 at 1:51 am

I can’t think of a better way to start the week! This looks incredible Steph! 🙂

19 Anita at Hungry Couple May 22, 2012 at 3:30 am

I’m thinking, based on these shooters, that bathing suits are overrated. If we moved to a colder climate we wouldn’t even have to worry about those pesky things and could concentrate on adult milkshakes!

20 Steph May 22, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Oh, totally overrated!

21 Lauren @Part Time House Wife May 22, 2012 at 3:30 am

How creative Steph! I love everything but the Jack…Maybe vanilla vodka to substitute for me! 😉 I’m all about a party in a shot glass!

22 Steph May 22, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Oooh! You’re making me want to redo this whole thing with vanilla vodka!

23 The Mom Chef ~ Taking on Magazines One Recipe at a Time May 22, 2012 at 5:30 am

I don’t like chocolate…or whiskey for that matter, but I’d love to have one of these after a long day of listening to non-stop ‘what I did in school today’ stuff. Maybe two.

24 Steph May 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Oh man!! yes, I’d say you would!

25 Colleen, The Smart Cookie Cook May 22, 2012 at 7:27 am

Ben & Jerrys = a great choice of ice cream! Please please please make me a mocktail version!

26 Steph May 22, 2012 at 12:34 pm

just omit the whiskey and you’ve got a mocktail!!

27 RavieNomNoms May 22, 2012 at 8:41 am

OK Best idea evvveerrrrr!!! I am totally bookmarking this ASAP.

Just a little tip for you, since I see you have Jack Daniels. Buy Evan Williams, it has the SAME label as JD’s and it also tastes exactly the same AND you get it for so much cheaper. Long story short JD’s and EW’s used to be in business with each other and then one of them decided to go behind the others back and start JD’s. Anyways, thought I’d help save ya some money and I swear you cannot taste ANY difference!

PS- Thanks so much for the advice on the shoes for running, I got myself a new pair and they are amazing (Mizuno), I have been running like 8-10 miles per week and I have been quickening up my pace. Feels great!

28 Steph May 22, 2012 at 12:33 pm

Oooh!! Thanks for the tip!! And I’m so glad you found some rockin’ running shoes! I love Mizuno!

29 Emily @ Life on Food May 22, 2012 at 10:36 am

love the chocolate rimmed glass…so many great serving options.

30 Steph May 22, 2012 at 12:32 pm

I’ll be honest, after the first dip I licked it all off just to dip it again LOL

31 Meghan May 22, 2012 at 5:22 pm

The only thing I have to say about this boozy creation is: want now!!

32 Erin @ Dinners, Dishes, and Desserts May 23, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Want!! These look incredible!

33 Ann May 23, 2012 at 4:50 pm

OMG! Want to take a bath in that combination of Jack and Ice cream! YUM! So totally making these immediately!

34 Stephaie @ Eat. Drink. Love. May 23, 2012 at 8:53 pm

I think I’ve died and gone to heaven! So delicious!

35 Cecilia @ My Life Sans Gluten May 24, 2012 at 3:13 pm

OMG these are to DIE for! I can’t wait to try them!!

36 Erin May 25, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Love the sprinkles on the rim

37 Laura July 10, 2012 at 9:07 pm

Ummm how about “if mixture is too thick, add a little more Jack Daniels.”

38 Uver Varona July 11, 2012 at 1:45 pm

can you sub with a good rye, and switch to a whit chocolate for a white chocolate shooter?? you could add rasberry liquer to give it a kick

39 Uver Varona July 11, 2012 at 1:47 pm

how about rye? it has more intense flavors i think. im def gonna try this recipe, but with white chocolate!!!

40 Crystal Zutz July 12, 2012 at 9:05 am

This is SUCH a great idea. I shared it on my blog as well. You have such awesome ideas on your site. I can’t wait to read more of what you post!

41 Mary September 17, 2012 at 5:42 pm

I’m a huge JD fan and it looks like I found my first adult beverage after my twins are born!!!

42 Kim April 24, 2013 at 2:35 pm

You’re right it looks so bad it has to be good! I would substitute the JD for Kahlua and top it with liqour infused whipped cream. 🙂

43 Steph April 24, 2013 at 10:02 pm

Ooh that’s such a good idea!

44 MaricruzRic November 12, 2015 at 4:44 pm

I don’t care about this, now i’m earning around $5000 a month.
There is tricky method i found on the internet. If you want to learn it too, simply type in google: Ruthiezx’s method
