Mexican Frozen Hot Chocolate Protein Smoothie

February 11, 2014

Let’s get real for a moment.

It’s Valentine’s Week…and yes, I say week…because I want to enjoy 7 full days of everything pink/red/glittery/hearts/chocolate/and uber romantic schmooze fest. It’s who I am, and Valentine’s Day is kind of me in a nutshell I think. I am a sap for mushy love and this is totally my holiday, so I push the limits on the time frame a little.

And while it’s fun to stuff my face full of chocolate after chocolate, sometimes my booty doesn’t like it. And the next week I regret all of those chocolates.

So I made a frozen hot chocolate that will help get me through that urge to chocolate binge.

This smoothie is super thick and creamy. Protein packed, which we LOVE. And still tastes like something that you might find a Dairy Queen.

When I made this I scrapped out all the smoothie in to my cup, then had a huge light bulb moment. Sprinkle rimmed glass. YES. Sometimes it’s these little details that make your daily smoothie feel so much more special. My first thought was a chocolate rim, but I knew if I did that then I would go over board with chocolate, so I opted for a little smidge of peanut butter.

I stuck my finger straight in the jar and rimmed my glass with it, then went for a dunk in the V-Day sprinkles. Please tell me you stick your fingers in the peanut butter jar too? Or lie to me to make me feel better. And let me tell you this special peanut butter sprinkle rim is what set this smoothie apart from all the other smoothies I’ve made.

The sprinkle rim was gone within the first two sips.

Ah man. I’m horrible at letting fancy rims last. No self control.

So…I think this Valentine’s week I’ll be spending lots of time sucking up smoothies or licking glass rims. Something new that Logan might learn by next week.

I am majorly into that fancy pretty in pink rim also! It’s like the icing on the proverbial cake! Or…the sprinkles on the smoothie jar. 😛
