Homemade Dry Shampoo

February 23, 2017

Y’all I’m a little embarrassed to say, but I’m just getting on board with the whole dry shampoo thing.

I know, I know! But every thing I’ve tried has always left my hair super greasy and well, just gross. I’ve tried several different things and just couldn’t ever find anything that worked. So, I had been trying to stretch my un-dry shampooed hair to three days, but by day 4 I was literally feeling like I had slept in a grease bath.

A few weeks ago, I was browsing instagram and saw a recipe for homemade dry shampoo, using only four ingredients. Hmm, I thought. Well, I guess I didn’t have anything to lose, except for the grease….and even better was that being homemade meant no crazy chemicals sitting in my hair for days and days on end. [I’m starting to get a little freaked by how many chemicals are in things I use e.v.e.r.y.DAY, hence my growing love for essential oils].

So, I got out the four ingredients:
-2 tbsp cornstarch
-2 tbsp cocoa powder [omit for blonde hair]
-3 drops Lavender
-3 drops Rosemary

Then I mixed them all together in a bowl, and scooped it in to a plastic salt shaker I found at the door store. BOOM. Instant dry shampoo. I shook some over the tops of my head, and worked it in to my roots [did this before bedtime], and you’re not gonna believe this…but it WORKED! I am able to make it about 5-6 days now without washing my hair and just using my little homemade dry shampoo.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy aerosolĀ again!
