Holly’s 1st Birthday

March 10, 2017

We had the best time celebrating Holly’s first birthday and even more fun seeing her in her little unicorn headband and party dress.

I’d been planning this party for a few weeks, and mostly fell in love with the theme because of the colors. Pastel pinks and blues and purples, with gold and mint green, and clouds, and frilly girly-ness. It just seemed so fun and light hearted and the best way to celebrate Holly’s very first birthday.

I tried really hard to make it more whimsical and not so much like unicorn in your face, and the biggest factor in that whimsicalness was the cloud backdrop. I had found a picture on pinterest of some clouds with the gold “rainstream” coming down, and it just immediately grabbed my attention. Logan and I had a fun afternoon working together to make the clouds for the backdrop, and I think they came out so amazing. I actually want to find a place to hang them up in her room now because I just don’t want to get rid of them.

We built up the tablescape a few stuffed unicorns, some felt flowers, rainbow fruit and veggie trays, some unicorn rice krispie treats, rainbow party munch, and unicorn punch. But, the main focus was the amazing unicorn pops and unicorn cupcakes that my mom made. I had found a video of the unicorn cake pops and sent it to my mom, having no clue that she was going to assemble my dad and brother to make all the super cute unicorn pops for everybody. Holly’s smash cake was the cutest too. The perfect amount of gold, glitter, and frosting.

Of course printing out Holly’s 52 week photo progression nearly broke my heart. But I can look at each of those pictures and remember that week exactly. It’s such a precious treasure to have, and am so thankful to have this as my own personal keepsake to remember my sweet little baby.

Holly loved having everyone sing Happy Birthday to her, and even though she didn’t go smashing crazy on the cake, she loved being able to just sit and eat her cake. The balloons were probably her favorite thing though.

Her party was just so sweet and cute, and one that I will cherish forever, and totally seemed to match her personality. Little Holly girl, you are my rainbow baby, and maybe that’s where you get your sweetness from, but I just hope you know how much you’ve made my heart grow over the last year. I love you more than you will ever know. Happy birthday sweet girl.
