I think I’m gonna do it…

This is something that I’ve been thinking about for a loooooong time and has been stirring in my heart.

Putting on those running shoes and going for another 26.2 [marathon distance]. I was training for my third marathon when I found out I was pregnant with Logan and had to stop my training. And it’s something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. But, it’s such a huge time [and energy] commitment….plus I’ve either been pregnant or nursing for the last four years. Now that Holly is older and there’s no baby in my belly, I’m thinking this may be the perfect time to go for it.

My race will be here in ABQ, and that makes me even more excited because now my kids can actually see me run. Even though they won’t really understand the feat, it’s one of those things that even right now, thinking about seeing them at the finish line gets me choked up.

Race day is October 22, which is 22 weeks away. I’m going for a 20 week training program, which means that I’m getting ready to seriously commit to marathon training. SOOO crazy. I’ve been testing out the waters the last few weeks with longer runs, just to see how my body feels, my knees, and my energy. And I’m actually feeling really good, so I feel ready to make my stance and say that I’m running a marathon in the Fall.

I’m planning to do a weekly update here, sharing my runs, and miles, and hardships/joys over this next 5 month training period. So, I guess, here’s to 26.2!
