Our New Way to Grocery Shop

August 7, 2017

I used to love grocery shopping.

Those days of strolling [literally] down the isle, carrying my Starbucks mocha misto, taking time to stop and look at all the new to me products, have a grocery list that only fed two mouths….I don’t even remember what that used to be like. Grocery shopping now has turned in to me pushing my cart of circus animals, shoving snacks at everyone just to keep them quite, making a double grocery list so that Logan has his own to check off, and strolling — psssh, I feel like I’m a contestant on the Super Market Sweep.

Grocery shopping has become a task of anxiety almost for me now. And of course, since I have mom brain, if something isn’t on my list, then I totally forget to buy it. Only to get home and realize we forgot the eggs or the milk or the bananas. Key staples in our home. Which means, trip #2.

Well, I’m excited to say that my grocery store racing days are coming to a hault, and it’s all thanks to Wal-Mart Grocery! I have to admit I wasn’t always a WAl-Mart shopper. Loved their prices, but just hated going in the store, getting stuck in long lines, blah-blah. But now. OOOOOHHHH yes!

All I have to do is add all my grocery items in to my cart, schedule my pick up time, pay for my groceries, and that’s it! I show up at Wal-Mart, and don’t even have to get out of the van. We usually schedule our groceries for Friday, because we go to a music class at the Library, and can just swing by on the way home. Plus, we’re missing all that weekend craziness.

There’s a few other reasons that I’m totally digging this service.
-I feel like I’m not buying loads of extra groceries. Even though I shop with a list, I don’t put the things that we just always need each week on the list. So, for example, I know every week that I need squueze pouches, rice cakes, protein bars, yogurt. But, sometimes I don’t know how much of that I still have at home and then end up buying way too much. So, now I can look in my pantry/fridge/freezer and check on my stock as I’m loading up my grocery cart.
-Because I’m not randomly shopping for things or browsing isle and buying un-needed bags of cookies or granola bars or ice cream, my grocery bill has been under $90 each time that I’ve used this service! That blows my mind, and saves my budget.
-I can spend the two and a half hours of commuting and shopping in other areas of my life, and I have noticed this last month that I don’t have that dread any more. Crazy how a little thing like that can total change your whole week and attitude.
