Kid updates

January 9, 2018

These two are just growing so fast.

Part of the reason I can’t keep up with everything anymore. I wake up and scramble all through the day, and at night I think to myself “how did I already get here?” I cannot believe I am getting ready to start planning Holly’s second birthday party, and that in the Fall, Logan is starting Kindergarten.

It’s heart wrenching and amazing all at the same time.

The personality of these two now is so fun to watch though. And the way they interact with each other is so special. Logan can make Holly laugh in a way that no else can. I can’t wait to see their bond as they just continue to grow.

So, I thought it would be fun to give you a little update on these two.

Holly.
She is starting to talk a lot. Mammoons [balloons], cow, bubbles [blueberries], sorry, pa-trol [paw patrol], ho-ho-ho….and so many more. She’s also starting to recognize shapes, if you ask her to find a circle or square or triangle. Even though she’s sweet most of the time, she has a serious diva-streak to her. She will throw some serious tantrums. She calls everyone a version of “mom”. I’m mama, Lucas is mum, Logan is ma-ma, Grammie is maa. It’s so funny! And this girl can spot a park from a mile away and beg to “shide-shide. peas”. She is still being a pretty picky eater. Loves her dairy, loves fruit [on and off], and loves to eat mac and cheese and chips. Lord help me. Coloring with markers id her absolute favorite thing to do right now.

Logan.
Totally in the “why” stage now. “Why do they call it littering? Why is there no gravity in outer space? Why do we have to put our pottery in a fire?” So many whys with every thing we do. But this kid knows SOOOO much. It’s mind blowing to me. And when I ask him where he learns these things, that 8 years olds should know, he tells me he just knows it. He’s getting super independent now. And that little boy look is quickly starting to fade. He has random moments where he just gives me a hug and tells me he loves me. He wants to help Holly do everything, but he also wants to boss her around.

I just want them to stay right here forever. Even though it’s crazy and hard, and I’m ready for bed every night, I get nervous about how quickly they’re going to grow. Trying to really force myself to slow down a little and soak it all up.
