And then he was a Kindergartner

August 15, 2018

Yup.

This happened today.

If you’ve been reading this blog forever [because I mean, hello this bloggie is like ten years old!!] Then you’ve grown up with me and Logan. Or, Logan and I.

My first little baby. The one I thought I had all the answers to and for, and now realize I had no answers and no clue. The one who seemed like he would always be my baby and I couldn’t fathom him growing any┬átaller than my hip bones. He just took his own steps in to a new season of his life.

Kindergarten and full time school.

I was trying so hard today to be filled with excitement for him. Not talking about how much I was going to miss him. Not wondering what Holly and I would do all by ourselves. Not letting him see the tears that streamed down my face as he walked in to his class and didn’t even turn to say goodbye. Not wanting to just go right back in and squeeze him and tell him please don’t grow up on me! I was trying hard to be brave for him, as I’m sure he was trying hard to be brave for me.

It’s a funny thing being a parent, because you’ll have moments where you just want that freedom back that you used to claim in your single years. And then all the sudden life smacks you in the face and shows you that time goes faster than you think, and those wishes you had suddenly turn in to regrets.

Logan, I know that you are going to do amazing things my little man. This is just the beginning for you. You are so smart and determined. Every year you keep telling me that you wanna be a builder when you grow up….whether it’s a castle builder, a builder worker, a robot builder….I can’t wait to see where your building dreams take you. Because, this is the first steps on your path to being that builder. Happy first day of school, I will never ever forget this day and how proud you made me to be your mama.
