Running has become one of my biggest passions. It’s a huge part of my life. Whether I’m out for a casual jog or running a marathon, each moment that my feet hit the pavement I feel exhilarated. Running gives me something that no other “hobby” has ever given me before, and that is confidence in myself and a real sense of pride. I cannot imagine my life without running, and am a self proclaimed running addict!
Participating in races is such an adrenaline rush! After running my first ever race (which was a half marathon in 2006) I knew I had found my niche. It had been a while since I had participated in any races, due to several injuries. Last year I was able to get back on the race wagon and don’t see myself slowing down. From 5K’s to full marathons, I love being able to train hard for an event, set a goal for myself, and cross the Finish Line. You can see all my race recaps here.
Marathon Training & Workouts
I created a full schedule for my first marathon based off of my TNT schedule and other marathon training guides. My 19 week training program includes two days of cross-training (yoga or weights), one speed workout, two medium distances runs (3-10 miles), a long run on Saturday with my team, and one rest day. Here’s my week by week training plan.
Since I’ve been running for quite a few years now I have a line up of my go to running gear that I won’t leave home without. I’m sure as I training for my marathon I’ll find a few more things that work for me, and maybe some things that I could do without. Here’s my list of must haves.
Fueling for any run is one of the most important aspects of distance running. I’ve finally figured out what works for me and always make sure that I never leave home without filling up the gas tank.
