Wedding Flowers

September 30, 2011

So yesterday I met with the florist

…and my flowers have been decided on!

I have been (ever since I got engaged) prowling wedding sites and copying any pictures that I love or immediately was drawn to. I’ve been emailing them to myself, this makes it so easy to print out or to email straight over to my vendors.

I now have a huge stockpile of emails in my “wedding” email folder.¬†This initially was a problem because I kept titling each of them “wedding decor”. But I got smart.

I now title each email as “wedding flowers” or “tables” or “dessert” so that I know exactly what I’m looking for. (Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!)

When it came down to choosing flowers I wanted something that was very rustic.

I told the florist that I didn’t have my heart set on a specific flower. I just wanted it to look very organic and natural. I wanted fall colors mixed in with whites and ivories. Almost as if i had been walking through a field of flowers and picked everything my self.

As I showed her ALL of my pictures she asked me what I like about each picture. Which flowers were my favorites. Did I like the size, the shape, the structure.

Who knew there was all the questions to answer when picking flowers! But I’m glad she asked all of them so that I can make sure my¬†flowers are exactly how my brain is picturing them.

A lot of these pictures are summer pictures, which means some of these flowers are out of season. Which didn’t really bother me too much, because again I wasn’t dying for a specific type of flower.

The flowers that we decided on will be burgundy and orange dahlias, some ivory gerber daisies, ivory roses, rusty colored billy balls, seed pods and some other little yellows flowers.

I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

And for the groom and groomsmen, we’re keeping it simple. Just a little Billy Ball boutonniere.

Great post. I think you’ve got nice taste with your colour palette.
